2018 Wrap-up

Honestly, this year was one of the most unproductive years in terms of reading. I set an initial goal to read a mere 24 books. In previous years, I have regularly read 50 books or more. However, I knew that it would be impossible to read 50 books as I was in a Ph.D. program this past year and so I set my reading goal low. There was hardly enough time to work out or cook healthy meals, let alone read books for fun.

Even still, I did not complete my goal of reading 24 books. I only managed to read 13 books in 2018. BUT don’t worry!! I will be reading a lot more this year because, as noted in my introduction post, I am no longer going to be in my Ph.D. program and I really plan to focus on reading.

All the books I read:

TOTAL BOOKS READ: 13/24

Overall, the books I read this year were very good. As you can see, I only had a few two-star reads and most of them were 4-5 star reads. I also read a lot of books written by authors that were new to me new including Liane Moriarty, Douglas Adams, and Robin Benway who are now some of my favorite authors.

I plan on doing a couple of reviews for some of the books I have read recently but please comment below if you have any requests for specific reviews. I hope you all have a good reading year. Here’s to an even better year of reading in 2019 🙂

Books & More

Hi everyone! Welcome to my first blog post. I am hoping to start a book blog that will include book reviews, recommendations, TBR lists, and more.

I have always loved reading. Since I was in middle school, I have been a constant reader. My mom regularly grounded me from reading by taking my books away because I was not doing enough of my homework.

However, my reading has slowed down a lot in the past year or so. I have been a part of a Ph.D. program which left little to no time for reading outside of academic articles. I have since decided to leave this program and pursue a masters degree instead. Hopefully, this means I can read a lot more in the coming year.

My year-long reading slump is really why I decided to start this blog. I want to push myself to read and interact with others about the books that we are reading. If I review and plan out my reading, I think it will make my reading much more enjoyable.

Please join me in reading more and finding my love of reading again. Follow me to keep up with blog posts. Please comment below if you have a bookish blog of your own so that we can motivate each other. 🙂
