Honestly, this year was one of the most unproductive years in terms of reading. I set an initial goal to read a mere 24 books. In previous years, I have regularly read 50 books or more. However, I knew that it would be impossible to read 50 books as I was in a Ph.D. program this past year and so I set my reading goal low. There was hardly enough time to work out or cook healthy meals, let alone read books for fun.

Even still, I did not complete my goal of reading 24 books. I only managed to read 13 books in 2018. BUT don’t worry!! I will be reading a lot more this year because, as noted in my introduction post, I am no longer going to be in my Ph.D. program and I really plan to focus on reading.
All the books I read:
- Life after Life by Kate Atkinson ★★
- Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams ★★★★★
- The Dazzling Heights by Katharine McGee ★★★★
- The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey ★★★★
- The Gentlemen’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee ★★★★
- In Order to Live by Yeonmi Park ★★★★
- Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty★★★★★
- Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty ★★★
- They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera★★★
- Far from the Tree by Robin Benway ★★★★★
- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (re-read) ★★
- The President is Missing by Bill Clinton & James Patterson ★★★★
- The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen ★★★★
TOTAL BOOKS READ: 13/24
Overall, the books I read this year were very good. As you can see, I only had a few two-star reads and most of them were 4-5 star reads. I also read a lot of books written by authors that were new to me new including Liane Moriarty, Douglas Adams, and Robin Benway who are now some of my favorite authors.
I plan on doing a couple of reviews for some of the books I have read recently but please comment below if you have any requests for specific reviews. I hope you all have a good reading year. Here’s to an even better year of reading in 2019 🙂
